Cruisers

Cruisers are large, moderately fast multi-role warships. They provide multi-mission air warfare, undersea warfare, naval surface fire support, and surface warfare.

Ticonderoga Class – The current class of Cruisers is the Ticonderoga, and it has an overall length of 567 feet and a displacement of 9,600 long tons. The size of these ships allows for a complement of 33 officers, 27 Chief Petty Officers, and 340 enlisted. With four gas turbine engines, two pitch propellers, and two rudders, the Ticonderoga class cruisers can reach speeds of 33 knots. They are equipped with a MK41 vertical launching system Standard Missile (MR); Vertical Launch ASROC (VLA) Missile; Tomahawk Cruise Missile; Six MK-46 torpedoes (from two triple mounts); Two MK 45 5-inch/54 caliber lightweight guns; and Two Phalanx close-in-weapons systems.
