Norfolk NATO Festival’s Flag Raising, Parade of Nations and NATOFest

NORFOLK, VA – Norfolk NATO Festival (formerly known as the International Azalea Festival) will celebrate all 28 NATO Member Nations with its traditional Flag Raising, lively and colorful Parade of Nations and NATOFest all in Downtown Norfolk April 27 & 28 and all events free and open to the public.
The Flag Raising will be held on Scope Plaza at 4:30 pm and will be a colorful display of anthems and flags representing each of the 28 member nations.  The Parade begins at 10 am on Saturday, April 28th with floats, marching bands, and festive groups to represent NATO’s member nations.  Then the Festival begins at 11 am in Town Point Park with international entertainment, foods and beers.

Norfolk NATO Festival Flag Raising

Annual Parade of Nations
Downtown Norfolk, Granby Street & Waterside Drive Norfolk, VA 23510
Saturday, April 30th 10:00 am
A colorful and exciting combination of international floats, costumes, marching bands, and local community groups, this downtown morning parade steps off from Harbor Park to Waterside Drive, following Boush Street, making a right on Plume Street and then a left on Granby Street. NATOFest

Saturday, April 30th 11:00 am – 3:00 pm
Visit 28 countries in one day as NATOFest showcases live entertainment, modeled on a European-style street festival. Numerous international music and dance performers, representing the cultural traditions of more than 8 nations, will be part of the day’s attractions.  A variety of international foods will be available for purchase and the VEER Fest Haus will feature more musical groups and an array of German foods and international beers for purchase.
