The guided-missile destroyer James E. Williams will return to Norfolk today from a six-month deployment, the Navy says.

The destroyer left in April to serve as the lead element in the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group to conduct security operations and work with international maritime forces.

The ship was deployed to the 5th and 6th Fleet area of operation, according to the Navy.
