The amphibious transport dock Nashville will be decommissioned today.

The 39-year-old ship returned in June from its final mission, a deployment as the Africa Partnership Station in the Gulf of Guinea and West Africa. The ship and its crew provided security cooperation and training to several African nations.

The crew provided medical and dental care to more than 5,000 people.

The ship will be decommissioned today at Norfolk Naval Station.
