By Jennifer Mason The Virginian-Pilot © March 17, 2009 NORFOLK The Navy's Submarine Force has named its sailors of the year, including one sailor from Hampton Roads, according to a news release. Petty Officer 3rd Class Mallory Ness, an information systems technician at the force's headquarters command in Norfolk, was named Junior Shore Sailor of the Year. Petty Officer 1st Class Chasity M. Morales, a religious programs specialist from Naval Submarine Support Command in New London, Conn., was named Senior Shore Sailor of the Year. Petty Officer 2nd Class Charles S. Worth, a machinist's mate from the Los Angeles-class attack submarine Philadelphia, was selected as Junior Sea Sailor of the Year. Petty Officer 1st Class Steven Hurt, a machinist's mate from the Virginia-class attack submarine Virginia was named Senior Sea Sailor of the Year. The Philadelphia and the Virginia are both homeported in Groton, Conn.
