NORFOLK

The guided missile destroyer Barry will return to Norfolk on Saturday morning after a six-month deployment, the Navy said Thursday.

The Barry was deployed with the 6th Fleet in the Mediterranean Sea. It has a crew of about 275 sailors, led by Cmdr. Douglas L. Edson.

The ship participated in exercises with allies and made diplomatic port calls as part of a multi-nation force that gives NATO quick response, according to a press release from Naval Surface Force Atlantic.
