By Cindy Clayton The Virginian-Pilot © February 25, 2009 Capt. DeWolfe H. Miller III will relieve Capt. Kevin E. O’Flaherty as commanding officer of the carrier George H.W. Bush this morning. The change of command will happen during a ceremony at 10 a.m. at Norfolk Naval Station, a Navy news release says. The ship is the final Nimitz-class nuclear aircraft carrier. O’Flaherty became the ship’s first commanding officer on Jan. 10 and first reported to the precommissioning unit in July 2006, the release says. His next assignment will be with the staff of the Commander of Naval Air Force Atlantic. Miller had commanded the amphibious transport dock Nashville, according to the Navy.
