NORFOLK

The aircraft carrier George H.W. Bush is being moved today from Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding in Newport News to Norfolk Naval Station.

The ship is being prepared for commissioning on Jan. 10, a press release from the Navy said. The ship is the 10th and final aircraft carrier of the Nimitz class.

The carrier is not yet ready to sail but the Navy did not want to delay its commissioning; tugboats will pull it to Norfolk Naval Station.

The Navy has not designated a homeport for the Bush. Politicians in Virginia and Florida are vying for it.
