Two Norfolk-based ships assist in rescue off N.C. By Jennifer Jiggetts The Virginian-Pilot © July 17, 2010 Two Norfolk-based ships assisted in a rescue involving eight boaters off the coast of North Carolina on Friday morning, according to a news release. The guided missile frigate Hawes and the Coast Guard cutter Albacore helped the patrol coastal ship Tempest and a Marine Corps helicopter rescue a capsizing fishing vessel around 9:30 a.m. The incident occurred about 15 miles off the coast of Cape Lookout, N.C. The boaters were in good condition and transported back to Fort Macon, N.C., for treatment and evaluation.
