Friday, July 23, &  Saturday, July 24: 28th Annual  Norfolk Jazz Festival; 5pm - 11pm daily: A 12 hour summer smooth jazz experience awaits you for two days this July at the region's longest running outdoor Jazz Festival.  This year's musical starlit event will showcase the Superstars of Jazz Fusion fea turing Roy Ayers, Tom Browne, Lonnie Liston Smith, Wayne Henderson, Ronnie Laws and Michael Clark Band on Friday night, and Jeff Lorber Fusion, Fattburger and Pamela Williams on Saturday night.  Order Tickets here. Friday, July 23: TGIF; July 23 Forte; 5pm: Forte Jazz Band is a seven-piece group hailing from Smithfield, Va. Formed in 1995, the band has performed extensively for a wide variety of events to include television, radio, and performances at major jazz f estivals to include the Norfolk Jazz Festival and the Hampton Jazz Festival. Whether performing in an intimate indoor setting or an outdoor festival, Forte always sets its sights on having fun and inspiring the audience to join in the celebration of music and life. During the group's 15 years of collaboration, they have grown into a cohesive unit that feeds off each member's unique musical abilities.  This synergy enables the band to transform the listening experience into something the audience understands and feels. With innovative and energetic performances as their trademark, they have been recognized as one of the major up-and-coming jazz bands of today. While the group performs music from diverse artists and styles, they have been wildly applauded for their original compositions and arrangements. Recording credits include bassist Daniel Quackenbush's 2008 solo album, "Singlehanded," Forte's 2009 album, "Left Behind - At the Train Station," and saxophonist Brian Pi nner's 2009 solo album, "Just Being Me."  "Difficult times lie ahead, Harry." This is the warning that meets our favorite wizard in training as he heads back for his fourth year at Hogwart's School. Harry is mysteriously entered into the dangerous Tri-wizard Tournament even though he is underage. He must train for many challenging and the possible return of his nemesis, the evil Lord Voldemort. 
Prior to each film, family activities and lawn games are available to play. Each Fountain Flick will also feature a dinner menu themed after the evenings feature film, prepared by Omar's Fountain Cafe.

Tuesday, July 27, 2010: Harry Potter Movie Series, Free & Open to the Public, Movie at 8:30 pm, HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX: Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Ralph Fiennes Warner Bros.; Directed by David Yates; Rated PG-13; 138 minutes; 2007. This film follows the darkest year yet for our young wizard.
Harry Potter has to battle the Ministry of Magic as they seize more power at Hogwarts and refuse to believe that the evil Voldemort has returned. Harrys overwhelming school work, changes in the Quiddich team and the increased threat from his nemesis make for his most challenging year.

Wednesday, July 28, 2010: 11 am - 3 pm; Wednesday Fountain Field Days  FREE entertainment and activities. Activities include backyard lawn games, such as corn hole, ring toss, bocce ball, hula hoops and much more! Fountain Field Days will host special children's activities with  Mad Science of Hampton Roads to spark imaginative learning, astonishing performances by Excalibur Gymnastics, Scrap Booking with Creative Memories and arts, crafts, games and more with Chrystal Willis. July 28 is National Milk Chocolate Day, stop by and receive FREE Hershey Kisses and FREE gourmet cup cakes by Just Cup Cakes only while supplies last.
Wednesday’s are great for children and families to come and enjoy the fun in TowneBank Fountain Park. There is plenty of furniture and bistro seating with shade provided under the large park umbrellas. Omar’s Fountain Café is open for lunch until two o’clock serving tasty outdoor summer foods, treats, and cold beverages for purchase. Picnic spreads are welcome.

Wednesday, July 28, 2010: Flicks at the Fountain wraps up with the 6th Harry Potter Movie, Free & Open to the Public, Movie at 8:30 pm, HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF BLOOD PRINCE: Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint; Warner Bros.; Directed by David Yates; Rated PG; 153 minutes; 2009
In Harry Potter's sixth year at Hogwarts he finds a Potions book, which used to belong to the very mysterious Half-Blood Prince. Harry finds that the Half-Blood Prince's ancient scribbles written in the margins give him great advice on how to improve on his Potions work, and also teach him a few helpful spells along the way. Harry will have to put these spells to good use in the wake of Lord Voldemort's return.
