The event is planned for10 a.m. on the bow of the ship, according to a news release. The Navy granted ownership to the city late last year. Tours of the ship's interior, including the ward room, captain's cabin, combat center, flag bridge and navigation bridge, are scheduled to begin this summer, according to the city. The ship was commissioned in 1944 and participated in World War II, the Korean War and the Persian Gulf War. It was decommissioned and recommissioned several times before being taken out of active service in 1991. The ship has been next to Nauticus since 2000.
